Vanessa Hong is the face behind The Haute Pursuit, one of the original fashion blog and a noted influencer on social media. The trailblazer who happens to have a degree in biochemistry and molecular genetics began blogging before it was “the thing to do”.
Vanessa saw the potential in the “influencer” market and founded her website The Haute Pursuit in 2010. The lifestyle destination includes fashin, food and design and an online shop. The THPSHOP is a space dedicated to slow-fashion, sustainable practices, and a new woke e-commerce.

The THPSHOP didn’t start out as a clean-fashion website. Vanessa Hong actually closed the successful e-store after watching Livia Firth’s groundbreaking documentary ‘A True Cost’. The documentary film chronicles the destructive way commercial fashion is made, including the lives of the people who make them and the impact it has on the environment.
The documentary quantifies the price of clothing against human suffering and environmental atrocities. Vanessa’s reopened the THPSHOP recently offering slow-fashion and design items with a transparency of where they come from and who makes them.
“THPSHOP is back with a new mission and vision for the future. We believe fashion can be used as a vehicle to empower – whether it be a community of artisans (like the one we partner with in Morocco to make our baskets) or young designers like Brasilian-born Melissa Araujo (who hand-makes her own shape-shifting jewellery). Art is a powerful conduit through which we can express our deepest beliefs and hopes for the future. The current paradigm built on mass fashion, mass destruction is 100% unsustainable.”
