Nanchang-Insun-International-Cinema-by-One-Plus-Partnership-Limited-Yellowtrace-06China’s new city cinema in Nanchang uses the conceptual relationship between the book and the silver screen to drive its interior design strategy. Books and page references are used to construct an architectural narrative that focuses on story telling.

The wall design from the entry plays with a sense of depth and creates a rhythm from the entrance to the darker depths of the cinema.

The ticket desks are fashioned from white Corian, a man made synthetic material, to emulate stacks of paper. The Corian cladding along the internal columns are designed to give an impression of towering circular bookcases.

Moving from the lighter entry spaces to the darker cinema halls the color palate changes from white to black. Inside the cinema the walls are decorated with green and black vertical profiles that flow from the ceiling mimicking book spines.
