“Break from the norm.”
Ambush began as an experimental collection of elegant jewels made from unconventional materials. Rose charms earrings, guitar pick necklaces, and silver security tag pins were treated like precious gems and metals. The company started as a passion project by self-taught designer Yoon Ahn and her husband, hip-hop artist and producer, Verbal.

Ambush’s unisex design pieces became popular among fashion’s more sartorial stylists and the brand soon expanded into apparel, again adopting a counter-culture approach by focusing on street wear.

The designers chose a slouched aesthetic from the 1990s. At that time hip hop had hit mainstream culture and most rap stars famously rejected tailored design styles for the over-sized look.

Street wear has evolved into something more classic since then. And tbh I would prefer to see Ambush apply their more elegant aesthetic to the apparel as they do their jewelry, but the Ambush outerwear featured in the Fall 2018 look book adds a certain polish to the label’s aged design aesthetic.
