The Fashion Plates This Week: Serena Williams, Jessica Jung, Beyonce And More.

Celebrity best dressed lists are predictably posh. It’s the biggest names styled by the fashion industries heaviest hitters. A celebrity best dressed list exists in all the glossies around the world and often times it’s the same celebrities on every list.

As one of these chosen few celebrated individuals it would be easy to sit back and rake in the free publicity but some choose to wield that power with more grace and humility than others. There’s no denying that they have an influence and platform, and we can all be grateful some of the world’s most admired celebrities chose to use their platform to contribute and effect change such as Serena Williams, Tracee Ellis Ross, Beyonce, and more who use their star power for good to make a difference in the world.

We applaud those who chose to stand up for what’s right, fight for causes that make the world a more just place and do it all with style.

These are The Fashion Plates of the Week:

A fierce woman. A champion. A mother. A role model. Serena Williams shot to the top of our list this week when we saw this image of Williams in Versace’s Fall 2018 ‘Clash’ print for Harpers Bazaar UK.

In addition to this badass image in Harpers Bazaar, Serena Williams won her 8th Wimbledon title against kick ass tennis pro Arantxa Rus this week. Serena Williams also launched a self-titled clothing line for fierce, strong, beautiful women. How fierce? The company motto is “Show off those curves“.

The Fashion Plate of the Week: Tracee Ellis Ross in Chanel

Tracee Ellis Ross may have been in Paris for Couture week but her heart remained with the children being ripped away from their parents along the southern border in the United States.  Which is why on July 1st, from an Atlantic away, she used her platform to call for solidarity:

“Wear white tomorrow in support of the thousands upon thousands of people taking to the streets to say #FamiliesBelongTogether!”

The Fashion Plate of the Week: Jessica Jung in Fendi, Ralph and Russo

Jessica Jung is more than a pretty face, she is an inspiration to young girls everywhere. The singer turned entrepreneur left the K-pop group Girls’ Generation in 2014 and founded Blanc & Eclare, a lifestyle fashion line, in the same year.

This week the “Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia” a-lister premiered a new project from her label Blanc & Eclare, a lounge wear set designed exclusively for the posh Mandarin Oriental hotel.

Luka Sabbat is all about doing it “for the culture”. In addition to his art studio ‘Hot Mess‘, the Hatian-American teen and break out star of television show “Grown-ish” has a clothing line that focuses on giving back to his father’s native Haiti.

This week the uber-influencer also used his star power to raise awareness to great changes happening in the fashion industry. While in Paris Luka Sabbat gave a special shout out to Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton’s first African American creative director.

What Virgil did  for the culture and as a black creative is so monumental on every level.
Anything is possible
Even if all the odds are against you.
This was a win for everyone.
Congratulations to a pioneer & an icon
Love you
Thank you for everything
