Drake’s ‘Girl Anthem’, “Nice For What”, Features Issa Rae, Yara Shahidi & Leticia Wright.

drake_niceforwhatThere are songs played on the radio, at the clubs or turn up on your Tidal suggestions playlist that when you hear them you get up and dance – every time.

Drake’s new single “Nice For What” is officially one of those songs. The sick track with its ‘no excuses’ lyrics laid over a sample of Lauryn Hill’s ‘Ex Factor’ from the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which won Grammy’s Album of the Year in 1999, is the ‘Girl Anthem’ of 2018.

That’s a real one, in your reflection
without a follow, without a mention
You really, pipin up on these niggas.

I understand, you gotta hunnid bands
You got a baby Benz
You got some bad friends
High school pics, you was even bad then.
You ain’t stressin’ off no lover in the past tense
you already had them.

Get ready for the ladies to scream “This is my song” and stand up to dance when they hear it. I’m talking about girls in the booth with bottle service, girls on vacation in the Caribbean or even girlfriends chillin on wine Friday’s.  This song will have women bonding, smiling and singing the lyrics to each other, it is that amazing.

In the video Drake called together a dream team of boss women – screenwriters, actresses, activists, dancers, directors and producers including – Issa Rae, Yara Shahidi, Tiffany Haddish, Tracee Ellis Ross, Rashida Jones, Jourdan Dunn, Letitia Wright, Michelle Rodriguez, Misty Copeland, Zoe Saldana, Oliva Wilde, Victoria and Elizabeth Lejonhjärta, Bria Vinaite, Syd and Emma Roberts. “Nice For What” stars Drake and is directed by Karena Evans and produced by Noah “40” Shebib and Murda Beatz.

Watch the video and get ready to feel joy, light and happiness.
