The concept of gender-less design is confusing. Is it about transgender? Is it about sexuality? Is it about our dual nature? Many people want to know what it is, exactly. I interpret it as a design style that breaks stereotypes associated with gender-norms. If you go with my definition it makes it easier to find designers that tackle this new design style well and have been for years. Designers like Rad Hourani who initiated his Paris-based label with a gender-less design aesthetic. Or Vivienne Westwood who evolved to a more gender-less approach thanks to a strong vision and being one of the world’s most woke fashion brands. Craig Green‘s loose athletic in vibrant colors and out there silhouettes are the closest we’ve seen to a truly gender-less style. The most important designer on our list is Yohji Yamomotto who for decades has designed a single silhouette for all body types that is elegant and creative.
