Slow Food: Slo Foccacia (Paris)
Foccacia is one of the best things you’ll ever have in your mouth. The flat oven-baked bread is similar in style and texture to pizza but not as heavy. It’s usually seasoned with olive oil, salt, and topped with herbs, cheese and meat or even flavored with vegetables. Foccacia is often found in the bread baskets of restaurants as an aperitivo to open your palette to the meal that is about to come. But today’s foccacia is the meal as Paris’ new eatery, Slo Foccacia, proves.
The artisans of this unique new bistro showcase Tuscan style Foccacia with vegetables, Italian olive oils, cream of ceps, & truffade. The Autenticas features straciatella and stracchino cheeses, an assortment of veggies including broccoli rabe and Espelette with a topping of honey. The heartier Raffinata boasts gorgonzola cheese with mushroom tips, pine nuts, anchovy filet, tomato & pepper sauces, dried caper flowers, olives, and oregano.
The interior design parallels the simplicity and refinement of the Slo products which are made to delight our taste buds and create an original experience.
The entire layout is minimal, but textured – simple, but with character. The location is sparsely furnished with a few benches and a running side table operating as a communal space from the entry way to the exposed kitchen.
The open layout is broken up by wallpaper designed specifically for Slo Foccacia by A+A Cooren. The paint splatter effect of the wallpaper in the dining space recalls drops of olive oil. The kitchen features a patterned wallpaper in veined pine wood which contrasts in sharp relief with monochrome tiles.
The harmonious elements between the soft lighting and simple interiors create a warm ambiance and makes Slo Foccacia a great chill spot in the middle of the city.
