The 2020 LVMH Talents Prize has a new criteria, sustainability. In a press release, the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) foundation highlighted “sustainable vision” as a requirement for entry.

Last year sustainable practices were not a consideration to compete. So the distinct change signals a big shift. And although sustainability was not a precondition, the 2019 LVMH Talents Prize contestants included three highly respected circular fashion designers, Bethany Williams, Anrealage creator Kunihiko Morinaga, and the 2019 winner Thebe Magugu.

It’s worth noting the LVMH Foundation claims sustainability has always been important. But earlier this year LVMH owner Bernard Arnault committed to place sustainability at the front.

The 2020 LVMH Talents Prize announcement went live on social media last week. The posts already has hundreds of sustainable designer tags.
