Annakiki creative director Anna Yang experiments with some of her signature designs remaking them in new textures, colors and unexpected textiles for her fall 2019-20 collection. The result is a grown-up style that maintains that cool kid look she’s most known for.

This season Yang uses more natural fibers, paring down on embellishments and color, to create a more sophisticated collection. Coats and suits in wool look more luxurious. There is a cool denim moment with an all-over mirrored mosaic applique and a wonderful woolly fur coat in natural shades of cream and sage.

But Yang doesn’t ditch synthetics entirely. For more contemporary looks she uses vinyl for trousers, tops and accessories. For future collections it would be great to see Yang experiment with more natural plant-based latex options to achieve the same look.

For the rest of the collection the contrasts between soft lines and sharp shoulders, enveloping and fitted shapes, accurately characterizes the distinct look that is Annakiki. And while she revisits this silhouette each season, for fall 2019 it is definitely more mature.
