Review by Lucas Pantoja

A mania of zebra prints, track tops, and sportswear inspired fashion in an array of neon color.. No wait, fringed foulards, geometric patterns, silky skirts and cloths’ reminiscent of the antique clothes one might find at the bottom of their grandmother’s trunk.

Both of these two very separate styles depict the look of designer up-and-comer Martinacella’s latest fall/winter fashion collection.

A particular woman is portrayed in the clothes as eastern European folk design collides with the loud exoticism of 90’s fashion; it’s like if TLC toured with another rap group of European grandmas and this was their wardrobe.

Inside the body of work we find various loose hanging silk skirts, shirts, and dresses combated with flagrant outerwear statements such as: yeti-like fur jackets and insulating, sleeping bag coats sure to keep users warm while battling the cold of winter.

Fringes upon fringes make up the majority of the embellishment found in the collection.

And while the statement making colors of neon citrus, glistening teal, and kiwi green are sure to draw eyes, mine personally were directed towards the fuzzy purple leopard print fleece; a women’s wear piece that could actually find itself on male fashion enthusiasts in New York during next winters shows.

The garments in the collection may not be for everyone but they’d definitely appeal to the loudest of fashion trendsetters and would fit cozily in the wardrobe of a rapper like Cardi B or better yet that of babushka wearing ASAP Rocky.
