Aniye By held her Fall 2019 runway show at the Apollo Disco which was inspired by the famous Soho House of New York.  The choice of location was strategic, Aniye By took us back in time to April 26, 1977, to 54th Street and Broadway, when the glamorous Studio 54 was established.  Creative director Alessandra Marchi used the notorious setting as her backdrop to conjure up her muse Jerry Hall.

The show began with actress and #MeToo spokeswoman Asia Argento as the resident DJ. Argento opened the show to Thelma Houston’s, “Don’t Leave Me This Way”.

For the first look a model appeared in a ten gallon hat, an animal print faux-fur coat and a shear prairie skirt. The West Texas style reminded me of the over-the-top looks from the 90s television show “Dallas”.

Following was a model in a long-sleeve pullover with ruffled sleeves, designed in shimmering knit. The luxurious blouse moved like a wave on the runway.

With each inspired look models wore slouch boots or steel tipped cowboy boots. The classic styles were paired with formal wear, day dresses, mini-skirts and trousers.

A design of note was an allover print jumpsuit with pussy bow, cinched with a rhinestone belt. And a selection of sheer white dresses designed in delicate tulle and lace.
