A successful Italian journalist living in Rome deals with the inner struggles that accompany his fast paced life of keeping up with celebrities and the high class. Now bored with his first world problems, eventually the stress builds and threatens to swallow him whole.

The story being described here is that of a classic Fellini masterpiece and fashion fan favorite “La Dolce Vita” which also happens to be the main inspiration behind the Fall/Winter 2019-20 collection from Milan-based brand Vien titled “The New Dolce Vita”.

The collection draws from the chic spirit of characters in the film like Marcello Mastroianni’s and the iconic Gianni Agnelli, but ultimately the designers alter the garments with a contemporary take on sportswear.
Amongst the designs presented was a widely cut and unstructured corduroy suit, a standout wool argyle sweater, collegiate style dad hats, and loose windbreaker hoods in neon colors which hint to sportswear.

The women’s collection which visually complimented the men’s draws on hyper-feminine shapes, with effects coming from a purple animal fur print coat and flared curves.

According to Vien, the collection mixes different styles and eras, with a focus on producing harmony between the tailoring and fine materials — shooting for a transformation of urban streetwear to elegant femininity.
