Although the location was Milan’s Palazzo Mezzanotte, from the clothes which flowed down the runway during Frankie Morello’s Fall 2019 fashion show, we could’ve found ourselves in a dystopian western film. Combining the sleek glamour reminiscent to Parisian nightlife with the bold flashiness of classic Texan fashion, designers Maurizio Modica and Pierfrancesco Gigliotti put their own contemporary spin on a look that’s stayed in fashion since Hedi Slimane’s takeover at YSL.
Silver, black, and python western boots contrast with neon sneakers and animal prints. Both mens and womenswear flexed sexiness with sleek shapes drawn out by nylon, latex, and leather. Not to mention more and more suits seem to have made appearances on the runway.

Some recurring trends which we’ve seen in collections last Milan fashion week include heavy uses of sheer for the womenswear and loose hanging fringes enhancing both collections. While the collection might not be perfect for an old school western fast draw, it’d certainly turn heads in capital F fashion nightclubs or on flamboyant Mick Jagger or Gaga-esc rock stars.
