Embracing Change: OUR LEGACY Presents Their First Unisex Collection During Milan Fashion Week Men’s.

Review by QC Humphrey

10 Corso Como, the high-end boutique shop inside a beautiful Italian palazzo in the heart of Milan, last night presented the Swedish brand OUR LEGACY Spring 2019 collection of menswear and its first collection of womenswear.  Creative Director Cristopher Nying’s inspiration for the Spring collection “Synthesis” was agriculture – plants growing from the soil wrapped in synthetic fabric to protect them for the environment.

This theme was revealed with five looks that were presented as unisex, which could be worn by both men and women, and is a signature statement of OUR LEGACY.  While the fashion forward collection is inspired by agriculture it is not sustainable due to the mixture of natural fibers and the use of synthetics, such as the short black nylon skirt styled with a V-neck transparent cropped pullover. More of the thermo-plastic material featured over a long sleeved cotton tunic layered over a longer black linen dress.

One highlight from the five looks presented was a washed, long black linen dress topped with a short-sleeve woven linen shirt. Over the linen shirt was a “Synthesis” logo sleeveless shirt or vest/gillet, and completing the look was a distressed, frayed, stonewash denim jacket slung over the shoulder.

The commercial piece of the presentation was the relaxed linen jacket with side drawstring which spoke to their belief that bringing together dual sex clothing eliminates gender roles in design and in the wearer.

The progression of OUR LEGACY which started with a line of graphic print T-shirts, has evolved internationally outside of its Scandinavia base with inspired details to construction, use of fabric, and a sense of style that feels artistic and musical.
