During New York Fashion Week in September Dapper Dan will be honored with the “Pioneer of Street Style Fashion” award at the inaugural ceremony of Street Fashion Week.

Street Fashion Week is a new fashion showcase scheduled during New York Fashion Week; the off calendar shows will include 8 designers, the next generation of emerging talent mentored under their Street University platform. Over 2000 guests, including local media, stylists, and influencers are anticipated to turn out for the shows and events.
The new fashion week calendar is inspired by the world’s social elite in hip hop music and culture, propelled by figures in New York society such A$AP Rocky, Virgil Abloh, Luka Sabbat and Pharrell.

Street Fashion Week carves out dedicated space to the taste-makers in what is now a billion dollar industry influencing the world’s most powerful fashion houses including Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga. Street Fashion Week dedicates fashion editors and mentors to street wear designers to gain recognition in the industry and create a supportive space where they can comfortably explore their craft.

Street Fashion Week will honor Dapper Dan (street wear fashion pioneer and current designer for Gucci) with the award, Thursday, September 13th, 2018. The location is TBD.
“I never used or designed anything that [the luxury houses] would think of — I was too cutting-edge for that.”
