For the past few years fetish wear has moved from the hidden recesses of pop culture towards the bright center as anti-establishment attitudes, freedom of expression and progressive gender-identity conversations break taboos. Designer Cristiano Burani tapped into the emerging market blending a number of sexual fixations into his fall/ winter 2018-19 collection.
The collection included a customized “erotica” print on hobble skirts, corsets designed in PVC, cosplay looks in neon rubber and latex, knitwear “furries” suits and bondage inspired sweaters, shirts and trousers. An “erotica” printed suit in mat latex was the most overtly fetishistic look on the runway.
