Were someone to make an Across the Universe–style mashup of Shakespeare’s entire works, there might be a scene in which a small rodent runs across the screen, inexplicable except as an excuse for someone to yell, “Someone tame that shrew!”

We’re dominated by clichés in fashion. For some reason, certain themes appear again and again. The same is true with style. We hesitate to call them clichés because we don’t like the negative connotations that label carries but sometimes they bring the silliest, funniest, and most outrageous looks.
