Rosella Jardini: Workman’s Wear.

The fashion world is an immense place these days. In it are sincere, hard-working artists, phony hacks, mediocre wanna-bes, and a few real geniuses. Surrounding them – in all media – is a huge structure of support, and bloggers, and interns, and viewers and critics. And yet somehow Rosella Jardini falls under the radar.

But for fall 2017 Rosella Jardini means business. The collection is ripe with of-the-moment fashion trends and serious style code risks. The stand-out three:

The Peasant Garb

Rosella Jardini is spot on-trend with Millennials in the growing preference for workers garb. An organic evolution out of the hipster counter-culture movement – industries including fashion and beauty are heavily influenced by millennial and next gen values of hard work, equality and preservation.

The “Halston” Suit

A true counter-culture artist, Halston was the king of queerness and sexual equality in fashion back in the early 70s. His androgynous suits especially made a big splash in the fashion world, women loved them. Rosella Jardini brings it back with this over-sized macro-suit that recalls the same rebellious energy of the Halston suit worn by Bianca Jagger.

Sweeping Pleats

The zany idea of pleats can be traced back as far as Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo, one of the great creative minds in theatre costume of the early 20th century. Always a bit of an oddball standout – from Britney Spears to Princes Diana – pleats are often worn by contemporary’s who aren’t afraid to mix art with fashion.
