The 2017 Venice Film Festival introduces the Inaugural Franca Sozzani Award

Well deserved, hope more is coming.

This year at the 2017 Venice Film Festival there will be a special new award in honor of the life and accomplishments of the former director of Vogue Italia, the late Franca Sozzani who died in December 2016.

The award is a recognition of excellence in the field of art with a strong civil and social commitment. The inaugural prize will be given to Julianne Moore by Colin Firth on September 1 at the Lido in Venice during the 74th International Film Festival.

The decision to create the award was made by the Board of directors composed of Francesco Carrozzini, Carla Sozzani, Sara Sozzani Maino, Carlo Capasa (President of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion), Diego Della Valle (President and CEO of Tod’s SpA), Giampaolo Grandi President of Condé Nast Italia), Pierpaolo Piccioli (Creative Director of Valentino), Remo Ruffini (Chairman and Managing Director of Moncler SpA), Marco and Afef Tronchetti Provera, Pietro Valsecchi (Managing Director of Taodue Film), and Donatella Versace (Artistic Director and Vice President of Versace), who wanted to give biirector of Moncler SpA), Marco and Afef Tronchetti Provera, Pietro Valsecchi (Managing Director of Taodue Film), Donatella Versace (Artistic Director and Vice President of Versace).
