Lebanese Designer Sarah Beydoun & Her Empowering New Purse Line By Syrian Refugee Women. <3!

What inspired the new line?

For the past 16 years as a fashion house and social enterprise, we’ve been on a mission to show that women’s empowerment can go hand in hand with great style.

How has the recent media coverage of women’s rights and empowerment played on the new line?

We’re inspired and heartened by the resurgence of the women’s rights movement that culminated in the global women’s march last month that saw millions of people around the world coming together to answer the fundamental question:Who runs the world?! In celebration of this growing movement, we created a capsule collection of statement clutches, bags and totes.

There is something very special about this collection, can you tell us more?

The bags have been handcrafted by a team of Syrian refugee women who are trained by Sarah’s Bag in various techniques such as beading, embroidery and stitching.  Each bag features a powerful statement inspired by the movement and each piece in the collection will be unique, created with a different technique and shape, to represent the diversity of woman around the world standing up for each other.
