The ’90s weren’t just a black hole of JNCOs, Airwalks and Oakleys. There were some game-changing guys who shaped the new look of menswear with track suits and combat boots, black leather jackets and oversized casual t-shirts. From rappers and grunge rockers to TV legends, the alternative style of the 90s will never truly disappear.
The Marcelo Burlon Fall 2017 collection derived from iconic mens style of the 90s: Johnny Depp, Ice Cube, Nas, Woody Harrelson, Christian Slater. The collection was a maturation of the 90s essentials: tees, button-downs, trousers, sport jackets.
The goal for the Marcelo Burlon line, after all, was to make it easy for men to shop for the core pieces of their wardrobe. Collaborations for the collection picked with functionality in mind – Reebok, Starter, Alpha Industries, Kappa, Ilariuss.
The extreme proportions, bold silhouettes, functional elements, strictness and pragmatism of the Marcelo Burlon uniform was tribal, militaristic– essentially the new look of menswear today.
