Pedro García’s New Madrid Boutique, A Home Away From Home
Inviting and stylish, the new store in Pedro García looks like a cozy living room in a house in the heart of Madrid. The two-story building is located on a quiet pedestrian street in the neighborhood of Salamanca. The creative directors of the brand, Pedro García and Dale Dubovich, worked closely with the López Rivera architects on the interior design. Together they created a pet friendly environment in which every aspect has been designed to ensure that the client feels like a welcome guest.
Inside is traditional wainscoting – the walls are coated with wood panels and decorative inlays. The rich texture of the environment creates a feeling of lightness and brightness. The copper’d ceiling and spherical spotlights placed at the center of each panel gives emphasis and evokes the glamour of the patinated seventies.
A classic herringbone parquet floor covers a section of the natural oak which continues unexpectedly to a library with a large flanking fireplace.
On the opposite wall, above a black glass beveled counter are pictures framed in a variety of shapes and finishes with images of the brand’s campaigns and of the designer’s family.
The interiors feature iconic pieces such as a lamp from Fornasetti, Saarinen marble tables, chairs in a Chinoise Chippendale style, a geometric carpet by Jonathan Adler, Platner stools and a huge freestanding mirror by Philippe Starck dominates the rear of the room.
These elements enliven and complement the classical language of the interior, creating a scene of contemporary luxury meant to slow you down, to make you stay a while, to shop and to enjoy the view.
