Mariù De Sica SS17: Inspired By The Nature That Surround Us

Penned by Melissa Lupo

Like walking through Monet’s garden, the Mariù de Sica SS17 women’s collection recalls the era of the Impressionists, evoking a light, flowing mood, with a mix of colors, materials, and technical details that conjure up images of water, air, and sky. mariudesica_7The collection balances pastels like mint green, dusty rose and lemony yellow with other stand out pieces in earth-tones and metallic accents.

One of the distinctive elements of the collection is the airy organza origami and natural cotton, along with pleated lining and voluminous ruffles. This contrast of materials and decisive structure hints at an overall meditative journey, with some pieces made entirely out of organza in a mix of pastel shades, and others entirely from cotton in simple navy and natural stripes.

Collars, long sleeves, and covered shoulders in transparent organza keep a light and feminine mood with a touch of sobriety. A poetic expression of artisanal craftsmanship, traditional techniques combine with technical applications making this a collection to reflect upon.
