New in Los Angeles: ‘Revolution in the Making: Abstract Sculpture by Women, 1947 – 2016.’

If you’re in Los Angeles you won’t want to miss the new Artist Talk program with Jackie Winsor, part of the exhibition,‘Revolution in the Making: Abstract Sculpture by Women, 1947 – 2016.’ at the Hauser Wirth & Schimmel gallery.

Long associated with process art, Jackie Winsor emerged as a significant sculptor in the late 1960s. Embracing simple geometric forms, her work responds to and transforms the formal language of minimalist sculpture.

Known for her use of unrefined, natural materials and a meticulous handmade approach to create highly tactile forms charged with a visceral energy  Jackie Winsor has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York NY (1979, traveled); the Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee WI (1991, traveled); PS1 Contemporary Art Center, Long Island City NY (1997); and, most recently, the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield CT (2014).
