Since Berlin lacks a city center shops are scattered about in different shopping malls across the city. Each neighborhood has their own shopping scene in which you can find special designers you won’t find in any other European capital. It’s a bit of a scavenger hunt sometimes to find those special places but it’s worth the effort. For those new to the Berlin aesthetic, the style mixture is that of normcore militia. The fashion is not unlike the city’s architecture: incoherent, austere, avant-garde and archaic all at the same time.

Design Style: new European avant-garde mixed with traditional Italian tailoring

The Melampo design duo creation’s are more experimental and modern than the family’s heritage brand. The vintage-inspired design’s excessive play with proportion, volume and texture offer an aesthetic that is both fresh and on-trend with the fall’16 fashion season.

The Melampo collection takes a gentle look back to the baroque period, from Italy to Berlin, via an esoteric mixture of transparent lace, impalpable laminated silk, lurex georgette and soft wool muslin fit to express the eclectic fashion of the Berlin savoir-faire.

For cohesion the color palette is consistent and heterogeneous ranging from sophisticated and soft white with iridescent shades to irreverent saturated colors like magenta and turquoise. Pastel colors or metallic shadow are pure contrast, sometimes defined and sometimes absorbed in impalpable fabrics.
