Baroque Drama.

“Natural creations are disappearing, slipping away and we are not in power to return it. Our utmost is empathy and the act of giving back.” Konstantin Kofta

The Drama collection by Kiev-based designer Kofta is a series of satchels modeled after architectural elements. Kofta’s desire to create a new beauty “by our own hands, as an act of compassion” is as much for the art of creating fashion as it is for remembering the beauty of craftsmanship from the past.

Konstantin Kofta  incorporated ornate architecture into the series. The Slovenian designer revived columns, busts, and other decoration from the dramatic period for spring and fall 2016, transferring them to sculpted leather bags, backpacks, totes, and clutches which focus around anatomical aesthetics. Natural forms and curves found in structural design are applied to human anatomy. The over-the-shoulder variations are modeled off of architectural elements in the baroque style.

Each reconfigured accessory embodies the brand’s atypical approach to wearable design. Intricately ornamented flourishes and column caps are made from a stone grey fabric. The leather material mimics the characteristics of concrete materials.
