SCAD honors Carolina Herrara

SCAD honored Carolina Herrera with the university’s prestigious Étoile in recognition of the designer’s outstanding contributions to fashion, culture and design. After the presentation, Herrera shared insight into her career.

In addition to the presentation, that took place 20 of May in Savannah, Georgia, SCAD now features a retrospective exhibit titled “Carolina Herrera ‘Refined Irreverence” on display through September.

The exhibition explores a breathtaking selection of Herrera’s runway, bridal and red-carpet gowns in a dual exhibition at SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film and the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, GA.

Curated by Rafael Gomes, SCAD director of fashion exhibitions, “Refined Irreverence” celebrates the 35th anniversary of the House of Herrera with timeless work from the designer’s oeuvre.
