Fontevraud L’Abbaye Royal Hotel Constructed Inside One Of France’s Largest Medieval Monasteries.

Inside the Fontevraud Hotel.

Fontevraud Abbey is a hotel and restaurant housed in one of France’s largest medieval monastic complexes.  The conversion by architects Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku was described as a “journey between tradition and modernity that reinvents the history of the site with a combination of passion, sensory pleasure and poetry”.

The 54 rooms in the 1000 year old four-star hotel are out-fitted with elegant furniture in natural oak historically reserved for nobles. Each guest receives an iPad on their arrival via which they access hotel services and discover more about the Abbey and its surroundings.

Heritage par excellence, Fontevraud Royal Abbey dedicated space for a dynamic multidisciplinary cultural program including rooms for contemporary art installations, a film screening room, and a public forum for debates and lectures.
