Creative Paris/New York based collective Études Studios by Aurélien Arbet and Jeremie Egry, was founded in 2012 as a result of a previous successful art collaboration. The fashion label, a separate venture by the two, is now in it’s eighth season. The duo recently presented their Spring 2016 collection in Paris, in the Palais Royal’s public, the Place Daniel Buren art space.
The stark presentation was accompanied by an exclusive track by ‘Kindness’ along with a spoken word piece by artist and skateboarder Mark Gonzale. The contemporary presentation was a great way to introduce the casual menswear pieces which mixed Brooklyn edge with french sensibility.
The clothes featured by Études Studio were oversize and offered a graphic interpretation of contemporary menswear. Relaxed silhouettes, a mix of tailoring and casual pieces, a bold use of color blocking, digital prints cut up and reapplied as patchwork on the clothes, present a fresh perspective and style of dress for men.
‘We wanted to work with the notion of “atelier” and work with our hands, but there was also the idea of skateboarding: that you are going to scratch your pants. Or painting: you’re going to get dirty,’ Arbet explains.
‘Études Studio is about freedom and new things,’ says Egry. ‘To not be stuck in one thing. It’s been a motivation since the beginning.’
