Marni celebrates its first flagship store, and launches a new design concept, for its San Francisco location at 77 Maiden Lane in the heart of Union Square.
The project reflects design concept introduced for the Madrid and Milan boutiques earlier this year, and is a collaboration between Consuelo Castiglioni and the architect Maria Luz Jaramillo, head of interior design for Marni.
The 320 square meters store divides into two levels combining different geometries in a blend of shapes and materials which reflect the aesthetics of the brand. architect Maria Jarmillo maintains the structure and originality of the original building while lending cosmetic updates for a more contemporary feel.
The ground floor, dedicated to the women’s line, features the original high ceilings, skylights and wood beams. The floor is new, covered in marble in geometric patterns in shades of white, green and grey. The modern design interiors both highlight and divide the space between the clothing and accessories.
Marni accessories such as handbags, eyewear and jewelry are encased in bright glass and polished steel, positioned along the walls. Wallspace is dedicated to footwear, with shelves lined in wood and leather paneling. Layered over the marble floors are geometric rugs and sofas in sage velvet offering retro-vibe.
A granite staircase descends to the lower floor, dedicated to the menswear collections. Here the concrete floor collides against the stark contrast of marble with strong color accents in wooden yellow, teal, magenta and white.
With this seventh store Marni further strengthens its presence in the US. Marni celebrated the opening of their San Francisco boutique on Maiden Lane last week with an intimate cocktail party hosted by W and BAMPFA with co-hosts Sabrina Buell and Alison Pincus.
