Dubbed an accessories wunderkind, Hugo Matha brings a fresh yet refined perspective to the world of handbags. The statement-making clutches in natural materials, handmade in the Aveyron region of Southern France where Matha was born, receive praise for their craftsmanship, structure, and detailing.
Hugo Matha studied at the Duperre school of Arts before working for Jean Charles de Castelbajac’s atelier in Paris. This led Matha towards bespoke fashion design. In 2014 he developed an artisanal line of transparent, handmade clutches – the voyeuristic Plexiglas windows offering a peek into a woman’s ornements quotidien.

The unique bags made a big impact on chic department stores like Colette who’ve sold the young designer’s handbag line since his first season.
Wrapped in exotic skins and finished with sleek, industrial hardware, these architectural treasure chests are an exercise in opposites; the opaque and translucent, the hard and soft, the ancient and urban.
