Grinko Spring 2016 Collection

Backstage Sergei Grinko described his new Spring 2016 collection as “NON CONFORMIST” in homage to George Sand, the mother of all nonconformist people.  The designer further stated “in fact, anyone who stands up for what he/she believes, despite what the rest of the world thinks or proclaims, is a non conformist”.  This impassioned speech set the tone of the show.

The designer perceives a modern-day nonconformist person as someone who is confronting and interconnecting with him/herself everyday in the real world and in the digital world, but with attitude.  This style of thought is more prevalent with younger designers today, the focus on oneself – against the world around them.

As for the collection the designer featured circular shapes in day-dresses in a way that revisits the era of Pierre Cardin from the early 70s. There are looks that feature volume in shades of yellow.  The color appeared often in the line-up, aside from a steady palette of grey, black and green.  The fabrics used this season included transparent crepe de chine and light brocades.  The collection also featured geometric prints.
