One cannot forget the blended show Alessandro Michele, Creative Director of Gucci, staged for the Gucci Cruise 2016 collection. The designer chose to show a live presentation in New York. The models were asked to first walk the busy streets before making their way into an industrial style warehouse carpeted in an ad hoc arrangement of Moroccan souk rugs and toile du jouy upholstered chairs, where the catwalk and the fashion editors were poised.
Michele further layered the poignant experience with a film. The models were recorded walking in real time. The film, directed by Glen Luchford with music by Collectresses, cuts from the first model’s city walk to a procession of timed models, culminating to a finale on the catwalk.
The Gucci Cruise collection, which ranges in price from 250 euro to 6000 euro, is now available to public for consumption.
The innately feminine collection is youthful and gentle. It features romantic dresses with dandy necklines decorated in flouncy ruffles, metallic mustard pleated skirts, poetic Princess Diana-style shirt dresses made in sheer silk, along with some prize mink coats modernized for now with impressive intarsias.
