Milan Fashion Week is all about fashion apparel but there are also amazing accessory designers worth knowing. And while the ‘it’ bags from big name brands will surely catch your eye, we thought we’d keep you up-to-date on some of the best new handbag designers from Milan Fashion Week.

Thinking about work and weekend toting, we based our selection on silhouettes, sophisticated polish, craftsmanship and unbelievable quality – and we searched for the trendiest shapes, from the famously Instagram-med bucket bag to the fashionable mini bag, and a few special surprise bags that would add a playful twist to your handbag game.

Zanchetti

Giacomo Zanchetti is a young, handsome and talented purse designer born into a family of craftsmen known especially for their hand-woven knitwear. But instead of following directly in his family’s footsteps Giacomo Zanchetti decided to study the world of leather goods working directly at the table with needle and thread, tanning, modeling and learning traditional leather crafts techniques.

In 2011 he launched his iconic style label Zanchetti. The entirely ‘made in italy’ designs crafted with care, from the love for their land to the care of the product, is the basis of his company’s philosophy.

Giaquinto

Corrado Giaquinto was a Neapolitan Rococo painter born in the early 1700s. We are not sure if the Giaquinto brand name is related to or inspired by the famous artist but we do know their handbags are dedicated to contemporary art, design, and quality. The ‘made in Italy’ project is a stand-out for their mind-bending geometric designs and the special cutting and finishing of their handbags.

Officina del Poggio designer Allison Hoeltzel Savini grew up on the coast of South Texas studying art and music before attending Butler University to study classical piano. While continuing her education in Bologna, surrounded by Italian fashion, culture and design, Savini fell in love with the Italian lifestyle and transitioned her artistic skills towards design. In the spring of 2014 she founded her own Bologna-based accessories label inspired by her fascination of saddlery, vintage cars, motorcycles, and classic utilitarian handbags.
