Gloomy, surreal, fantasy, poetic, multi-colored
Fashion at its highest art form, designer Richard Quinn revealed his Spring 2019 collection most recently at London Fashion week. Always presenting a poetic take on fashion, this time Quinn’s looks were dark, emotional, and elegant — reminiscent of a graceful ballet.
The show opened with four looks, all of which engulfed in black and completely covering the models’ faces leaving them anonymous. Once the darkness passed, the rest of the show consisted of grim expressions dressed in primarily floral and animal prints over some classical, yet surreal like garms.
Silhouettes were kept quite slim with a few exceptions. The constructions were filled with ruffles, layers, crystal embroideries, and mismatched prints/materials. Once again, floral seems to bloom over yet another collection as it is prevalent in many of Quinn’s looks for the upcoming season.
It’s safe to say as Richard Quinn has done in the past, that most of these clothes are not meant for your casual outing to the cheesecake factory but instead your most luxurious of events or royal balls. Although the mood of the show was a gloomy one, the clothing was full of life and color.
