Just two months passed after women’s fashion week and here we go again – Milan starts spreading the news – all eyes on the most important event of the year – Salone del Mobile – Design Week!
Early morning passed through the Spazio Rossana Orlandi – a beautiful cloister full of spring flowers – I was invited by really nice people for a breakfast and a pleasant talk. The space of LEVEL – the project made by collaboration with American design company Wolf-Gordon and Amsterdam based designer Mae Engelgeer, is where we met. The morning atmosphere was so gentle and inspiring!

It was really great to meet her in person and to hear the description of the collection created in collaboration with Wolf-Gordon, which continues to develop new work with international designers. Specialized in textile design Dutch designer Engelgeer works for international design galleries and fairs, selling her work in design stores worldwide.
For Wolf Gordon she prepared a series of patterns titled LEVEL. I saw her as an interior designer of a strong personality. I couldn’t say that the textures were provocative, but they were really inspiring! Metallic threads looked very futuristic and emphasized textural contrasts. Made of recycled nylon, cotton and rayon, the upholstery textile showed the base pattern – dotted lines and dashes. “Asymmetrical but balanced” – that was exactly what made the new collection so calm, strong and of our time. It’s made for someone who lives in flux, in days full of colorful, bright and noisy doings – because here you can relax and forget about all those things. Even at this event I felt myself at the calming level, conducting conversations about those simple geometric shapes, neutral colorways and the play of opacity and translucency.
