Occupying the former Fundación Textil Algodonera, Catalonia’s former textile mill, is the new Cotton House Hotel. The 83-room estate redesigned by Catalan architect Elies Rogent celebrates the period splendors of its setting.

Interior design studio Lázaro Rosa-Violán outfit the landmark property in soft contemporary furnishings and lighting that compliment the original floors, wood paneling and ceiling frescoes. The aim was to revitalize the space and keep a sense of the building’s neoclassic character.

The public spaces include a dramatic mirrored reception, an octagonal hall leading to two distinctive staircases, and a bar-restaurant called Batuar.

A surprise feature is the rooftop pool terrace with a view of the Sagrada Família.
