The Mirror Houses are a pair of holiday homes set in Italy’s South Tyrolean Dolomites territory, just outside the city of Bolzano, amidst a beautiful scene of apple trees. The Dolomites are in Europe’s largest Alpine plateau, Alpe di Siusi. The region is famous for it unspoiled landscapes, regional wine & cuisine, and its cultural activities.
Architect Peter Pichler chose the location for the dramatic views of the Mendel Mountains. He covered the houses western facade in a UV-coated mirrored glass to reflect the mountains dramatic contours.
Inside each small house is a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Light and air filters throughout the enclosed space via skylights. The eastern facade features bright airy windows, a cantilevered terrace, and gardens.
