Ready For A Winter Break? We Found The Perfect Nature Resort In Mexico.

Winter is firmly upon us, soon the Christmas tree will shed its last needles, decorations will come down, the nights will grow longer and the temperatures colder. But if all you can think about are swaying palm trees and whooshing waves it might be time for a winter break.

Papaya Playa Project is the perfect get-a-way to relax and commune with the locals. All you need are your swimsuits and suntan lotion, you can leave the coat, turtlenecks, and gloves at home.

The Papaya Playa Project is cocooned by the jungle on a pristine stretch of the Caribbean coast line. It’s a communal playground with an amphitheater on the beach where locals and tourists come together to perform.

The crafts, decorations, hammocks, food, and furniture are all sourced from Mexican and Mayan artisans and local providers.

The Papaya Playa Project is one of the most sustainable and eco-friendly design hotels in the world! The project’s managers focus on sustainability and social responsibility using solar energy, sustainable water treatment, recycling, gardening, local sourcing, fair trade and wages, responsible construction, material recycling, and community involvement.

The Papaya Playa Project merges local culture and sustainability.

“Sustainability means life for future generations and integrity for the current one.

— Emilio Heredia, Project Director at Papaya Playa Project
Papaya Playa Project adopted “Chukum,” a technique used by the Maya to cool the interiors of buildings made principally with the resin of a tree with the same name.

The hotel design is functional and simple based upon traditional Mayan architecture and techniques. Developers use local design customs to a sustainable advantage. For example chukum, a type of resin from a tree by the same name, is used as an insulation system to cool the buildings interiors.

The Papaya Playa Project also has a full luxury and wellness spa including massage, beauty treatments, yoga, tai chi, and meditation.

The resort’s restaurant overlooks the azure waters, so you can enjoy locally sourced specialties. Drinks and snacks are served all day and night on the beach and at the resort’s beach club.
