For many fashion fans, myself included we’ve seen and experienced the changes which the industry has undergone in recent years with the rise of streetwear and the fuel of hype. Menswear specifically has undergone a metamorphosis in it’s own way as tassel loafers turn into chunky dad sneakers and suits begin to transform into chest harnesses (i.e. Timothee Chalamet’s latest look at the Golden Globes this past weekend).
While editors, critics, and enthusiast, all rave about the constant evolution of fashion and where it’s headed, the truth is nobody knows for sure what’s going to be the look in the approaching future. On one end of the spectrum voices can be heard discussing a return to simplicity and elegance, while on the other end we find those pushing for a continuity of maximalism and no rules. Of course with the exception of those prioritizing both existing within the same ecosystem.
So in 2019 I’m trying to dodge the lazy and recycled designs, in hopes to find a return to honest, timelessly constructed fashion that looks refined and feels comforting.
