The Design Museum in London tackles the subject of politics and social media. Public engagement with politics has changed dramatically since 2008 and graphic design and technology have played a pivotal role in dictating and reacting to the major political moments of our time.
In the exhibition “Hope to Nope: Graphics and Politics 2008-18”, currently on display until August, artists explore graphic design in the form of internet memes, posters and protest placards and how it is used by the marginalized and powerful alike to shape political messages like never before.
From the global financial crash and the Arab Spring, to ISIS, Brexit and Trump, the exhibition explores the numerous ways graphic messages have challenged, altered and influenced key political moments.
The exhibition has over 160 objects and installations, and real-time social media conversations around political leaders through displays created in partnership with social listening platform, Pulsar.
