In a sterile environment, three models in Benjamin John Hall footwear step onto a platform one at time. The space is set up like a gladiator hall with benches in half moon shapes to allow easy viewing by spectators filming the proceedings.

John presents the footwear designs to the crowd. He then takes each pair through a unique dyeing process, they are either bled, bludgeoned or sprayed.

Hall’s intent was to reconsider process-led dyeing methods and to examine ideas of entrapment and impermeability.
