InterContinental Davos, Switzerland

The InterContinental ski resort in Davos is often referred to as architectural marvel because developers were told it was “unbuildable”.  The inspiration behind the eye-catching structure is a pine cone the architects found in a forest.

Hôtel Des Trois Vallées, Courchevel, France
The 1950s post-war ski resort is one of the first lodgings in the area to undergo modern renovations. It now features a spa center, a delicatessen shop, a restaurant and a ski shop.

Nira Montana, La Thuile, Italy

The Nira Montana Ski Lodge launched just five years ago and it is leading the way in modern hospitality. The boutique lodge exterior is fashioned from natural local materials and the restaurant uses only fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

The cabin, named after French glaciologist and traveller Charles Rabot - the first to map out the region in the 17th century - was designed by Oslo-based architecture practice Jarmund/Vigsnæs Arkitekter (JVA).

Rabothytta, Okstindan, Norway
Rabothytta is a reclusive trekkers cabin located 1,200 meters above sea level in the secluded area around the Okstindan glacier in northern Norway. The self-contained cabin features solar panels, a bio-bathroom system, and a wind turbine generating 230 volts of electricity without being on the grid.
