Guy Laroche SS19: Raver Culture.

The Guy Laroche catwalk show took place at Yoyo, a basement auditorium at the Palais de Tokyo requiring a 5 flight descent into a dark stairwell with walls covered in graffiti. At the very bottom two double doors open up to a cavernous room painted entirely in black with dark furnishings, a platform stage, and with a huge disco ball hung from the ceiling. It was the perfect secret location to hold a fashion show, or a rave.

Ravers are a well established subculture in America with their own community including their own style of dress. The Guy Laroche SS19 collection was a very adult version of a raver who might code switch between cultures.

The entire collection was showcased in pure black and white. There were random pops of color with some models sporting deep blue lips or neon bright eyebrows.

Although the collection appeared to be nothing but party clothes there were a few excellent but risque examples of day wear and work wear.

The highlights from the show included a Marabou feather dress and a lovely white jumpsuit with single feathers protruding out like acupuncture.

While this might not be a collection most people could wear, it does offer options to the under-served indie market that lives to party.
