First Look: Yohji Yamamoto SS19.

Written by Lucas Pantoja

Sartorial, dark, minimal

Never a disappointment, Yohji Yamamoto presented his Spring 2019 collection in this latest Paris fashion week. A veteran and genius when it comes to fashion, Yamamoto kept to his signature style and showcased a dark array of sartorialism with sharp diagonal cuts and relaxed silhouettes.

Noticeably one aspect of the collection is Yamamoto’s reinvention of the trench coat and blazer, reconstructing both garments in an assortment of looks. Colors were appropriate to the Yamamoto branding as the majority were kept in total black besides a few looks in red and canvases of black and military green accompanied by painted colors.

Prints were minimal as most clothes stayed true to their original colors: minus some accessories and a few garments composed of digital and faint polka dot prints. While still a charming presentation by a legend in the world of fashion, nothing exciting or too inventive was shown.

But in any case, the Yamamoto fans of sleek and grim elegance will be pleased to dress themselves in the latest garments from the designer as well as some noticeable headwraps.
