Fun fact, did you know that duck-billed shoes for men from the 16th century were so wide that Queen Mary had to enact a law that only allowed shoe designs to be no more 6 inches across? True story.
Shoe history is a funny thing. The fact that they actually had a shoe called “duckbill” really speaks to the era of the times.
Another funny name for a mid-century shoe was “bear’s paw”, because the shoe looked like a bear’s paw when they look for food – ok, you get it.
It’s nice to see designers reference ancient history. It was also unexpected for Coliac but she is a revolutionary young creative. Her entire concept revolves around piercings and the punk movement.
For fall/ winter 2018-19 Coliac went back in time when men were SO vain and so posh that the queen had to step in. Classic!
This is also Coliac’s second season creating a prêt-à-porter line. The classic collection melds well with the shoes, don’t you think?
