Tanya Taylor Spring 2016 collection was inspired by a recent journey, and the people the designer met along the way. The prints from the collection were created as a way to celebrate the adventures taken.
The collection’s theme, Field and Flower, introduced bold, oversized hand-painted prints, which the studio is known for. There was a diversity of fabrics and of combinations of prints which are key to the story.
Laser cutting surfaces were used to create abstract floral motifs. Silks in bright colors, pleated skirts, and custom twill jacquard were combined with knits in varied hues. Classic silhouettes were accentuated with modern oversized bows and ties in a proportion play inspired by the wrapping and draping of cloth.
The bags were hand-woven with natural reed and saturated elastic braiding that featured cord handles and gold hardware. The shoes were designed in collaboration with Paul Andrew and featured bright leather florettes and hand painted Lucite heels.
