The London Design Festival, first staged in 2003, is one of the world’s most important annual design events. The Festival program is made up of over 400 events and exhibitions, staged by hundreds of Partner organizations across the design spectrum and around the world- including a unique collaboration between the world’s leading museum of art, fashion and design: the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Highlighted in the V&A program is an exhibition about an often unseen design feature. Underwear.
V&A has gathered over 200 pieces from the 18th century to present day to place on display. Titled, Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear, the exhibition examines the links between underwear and fashion and the ways that changes in fit, fabric and technology have often reflected society’s attitudes to gender, sexuality and morality.
