Kim Jones’ first campaign as artistic direct of Dior Homme is not a reflection of the modern-day Dior man but an iconic one from the past. Set in a studio rather than out on the street or in motion, the campaign recreates the fantasy of the Paris show during fashion week.
Literally. Check out the first two images again. Some of the same models from the runway are standing beside the same decorations from the Spring 2019 menswear show in the same pressed looks, with the same shiny pomade tresses.
I wanted this advertising to reflect the spirit of the summer show and the beauty of Dior.

The whiplash campaign was captured by legendary photographer Steven Miesel.
The campaign doesn’t push the boundaries in casting or in styling as we’ve come to associate with Kim Jones instead it stays within the boundaries of the Dior brand – the one that has withstood over 70 years as a titan in the fashion industry.
