‘Jeans for Refugees’ Initiative Ends in London

Penned by Nichelle Cole

Starting 24th October an exhibition of the global project ‘Jeans For Refugees’ will be hosted at the Saatchi Gallery in London until 30th October 2016. ‘Jeans For Refugees’ is the global art project dedicated to the support of refugees around the world. The exhibition is presented by the NAMA ADVANCENT Women Establishment and features denim donated by 100 of the world’s biggest celebrities.

The exhibition will place on display the 100 pairs of jeans donated by celebrities and hand-painted by renowned artist and founder, Johny Dar, and will be the only opportunity for the public to view the complete collection. refugees

The initiative has inspired 100 prominent personalities to donate at least one pair of jeans; names involved in the project include Salma Hayek, Bella Hadid, Emma Watson,  Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling, Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Benicio Del Toro, Karlie Kloss, Sir Elton John, Claudia Schiffer, Harry Styles, Sharon Stone, Pink and many others.

The initiative started with Johnny Dar and his passion to react to the largest humanitarian crisis of our time. The strength of his empathy and his desire to make a difference in the tragic circumstances of refugees, and the overwhelming celebrity support, the many dedicated individuals and the organization, has evolved this initiative into a collective movement seeking positive change.

The JFR collection was previewed in Berlin, New York and Milan and will culminate with a performance at the Saatchi Gallery in London where all one hundred works will be exhibited together for the final show. The exhibition will be held during the last week of October and will be hosted as an online auction.
